These prints are about the interaction of the elemental forces of nature with the physical objects of everyday life.

In the silkscreened prints, the idea of home is something being both constantly built and taken apart and at the same time- continuing to house and protect what is sacred within as the forces of nature swirl, impinge, attack or attempt to cause the house, tree, or ribcage- to come undone. The large geometric orbs stand for the larger order of the cosmos, while the small items- buttons, hardware, ladders, hammers- are the objects that symbolize the work we do everyday to keep everything together.

Different photoscreens for each color were made by scanning objects, photographing and Photoshop-ing, printing the images out on acetate, drawing or painting, and rubbing on acetate, then exposing these acetates onto a photosensitized screen. The backgrounds were done on an etching press- monotypes made by rolling up a plexi plate with ink and then selectively wiping out or stenciling the surface before printing it in the press.

The cyanotype (string theory) was exposed outside to the sun with rope, string, and drawings and paintings of rope and string on acetate- on top of the coated paper. Wind assisted by moving these things around during the exposure. A photo silkscreen of actual string was printed on top.
